What do you think about when you imagine a day trip to the Southwest? Is it sunsets by the red rocks? Do you think of hiking by hot springs? Or maybe you think of the vastness of the desert and the beauty of the landscape. Or maybe you think about cool art and amazing architecture
The Southwest, also known as the West Southwestern United States, is just that – it’s a wonderful place to explore. It’s a place for both adventure and relaxation. It’s where you can get away from it all and experience a whole new culture. It’s a beautiful place for you to get away, but it’s also a place where people come for some good family fun. When visiting the Southwest, make sure you take advantage of the family trips you can have.
With that said, it’s time to go on your first family vacation to the Southwest. We have come up with 10 days to get you started. Now, let’s dive in!
1. Day 1: Phoenix, Arizona
Phoenix has a lot to offer when it comes to things to do. Start by visiting The Heard Museum – the museum is a place of art and culture. It houses a lot of Native American artwork, so if you are into that sort of thing, this will be a great place to start your journey. On your second day, travel to Tucson, which is just a short drive away. Get out and enjoy the art and culture here as well. Next, it’s time to head north to Lake Powell. There, you will be able to enjoy some good golf while you are here. If you are a golfer like me, you will love this! In addition to golf, there are also some great activities that you can enjoy here. Spend time swimming, kayaking, fishing, jet skiing, and more. Lastly, stop by Mesa Verde National Park to see the ancient dwellings of the ancient peoples of the Southwest.
2. Day 2: Flagstaff, Arizona

After your first two days, it’s time to head east to Flagstaff. You can spend the next two days in Flagstaff doing things to get you ready for your family’s first real vacation to the desert. One of the first things you should do is get to Grand Canyon. It’s one of the places you just won’t want to miss. In addition to the magnificent beauty of this place, there is a lot to do here as well. Spend a little time hiking around here and then take a ride on a raft through the canyon. This is a great experience. After your visit, it’s time to head to Page. You may never want to leave this quaint little city. Make sure you visit Fortification Hill. This is a great place to start your day. Finally, make sure you take a trip up to Mount Humphrey to see the incredible views and enjoy the great scenery.
3. Day 3: Payson, Arizona

You will want to spend your third day in Payson. You will enjoy time relaxing, hiking, and of course visiting with your family. Make sure you stop by The Lodge Restaurant and spend some time having a nice dinner. The food here is excellent! After your meal, stop by Arizona State Fairgrounds to enjoy a baseball game. You can see some of the best baseball players in the country playing in this stadium. Make sure you enjoy yourself and make the most of your vacation!
4. Day 4: Winslow, Arizona

You will be glad you spent a day in Winslow. Spend some time enjoying the area and checking out the shops. Make sure you stop at the Arizona State Fairgrounds to enjoy a baseball game, and of course, have a nice meal. You will feel as if you have been transported to a different era with the old-timey town of Winslow. Spend some time at the Historic Winslow Railroad Park, and you will feel like you are in the middle of the 1800’s.
5. Day 5: Bisbee, Arizona

This is a great place to spend the day. Spend some time enjoying the views, shopping, and of course, visiting with your family. Make sure you stop at Tombstone. You will learn a lot about the area and the history of Tombstone. Make sure you enjoy your time in this town. After your visit, you may want to visit the nearby National Monument. This is a great place to enjoy the amazing views of the desert. You will not be disappointed!
6. Day 6: Queen Creek, Arizona

Your day will be spent in the city of Queen Creek. This is the place to go for fine shopping. Make sure you enjoy some time enjoying the outdoors. Visit the Arizona Western Museum. This is a great place to learn more about the area and see some amazing western artifacts. Make sure you enjoy a meal in Queen Creek. There are many fine restaurants in the area. The city of Queen Creek is a great place to spend a relaxing weekend.
The coolest thing to do in Cleveland is easy. There are always new spots opening and things to discover.
